An American flag hangs inside the cargo bay of a C-130 Hercules carrying the remains of Sen. John H. Glenn, Jr., at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, on Dec. 17, 2016. Having flown 149 combat missions in World War II and the Korean War, Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth in 1962.
