A crewmember aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star calls out distances between the cutter and the motor vessel Ocean Giant during icebreaking operations near the National Science Foundation’s McMurdo Station, Feb. 1, 2017.

The Ocean Giant was the first of two resupply vessels scheduled to bring critical supplies and fuel to the Antarctic research station.
