Elka Giordano (center left), wife of Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Steven Giordano, poses with instructors and mentors from the Command Spouse Leadership Course and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Spouse Leadership Course at the Naval Leadership and Ethics Center in Newport, Rhode Island. The courses provide spouses with an awareness of leadership and management skills that can enhance positive contributions to the family, command and community environments. The courses also deal with issues likely to arise in connection with command responsibilities, as well as ideas to maintain communication links among the command, families, community and service providers.
