Service members build an improvised shelter during winter training at Fort McCoy in 1989. Fort McCoy has been a destination for winter training dating back to 1943. Winter training returned to Fort McCoy in 2017 with the start of the Cold-Weather Operations Course taught by the installation's Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security.
