PORT HUENEME, Calif. – Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC), Concrete Materials Subject Matter Expert, Justin Foster, explains the work done in the Aviation Engine Simulation Facility. Foster's team recently developed high performance airfield concrete able to withstand F-35B Joint Strike Fighter vertical landings without damaging the pavement. The facility is able to reproduce the extreme temperatures and pressures generated by a variety of aircraft for testing of pavement and ship deck materials. NAVFAC EXWC, NAVFAC's only Warfare Center, hosted six Senior Executive Service (SES) leaders from the U.S. Naval Research Lab (NRL), in an effort to increase collaboration between the two organizations.
