SAN DIEGO (Feb. 27, 2017) – Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3, Rear Adm. Cathal O'Connor takes questions from the crew of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during an all hands call. During the visit Connor toured the ship and spoke to the crew about expectations for deployment later this year. America is an aviation centric amphibious assault ship that supports Marine aviation requirements, from small-scale contingency operations of an expeditionary strike group, to forcible entry missions in major theaters of war.
