Dave Mercier, Legion Riders director, American Legion Post 57 lowers a piece of an American flag into a fire during an official flag retirement ceremony held by the American Legion Post 57 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2667 at the Legion and VFW headquarters in Newnan, Georgia March 4. The ceremony, attended by fellow veterans and local Boy Scouts is held once a year by the organizations to officially retire and honorably dispose of worn out and damaged American flags.
