Descendants of John McCormick, the namesake of the Coast Guard Cutter John McCormick (WPC 1121), visit the cutter while it was moored in Astoria, Oregon, March 11, 2017. John McCormick received a Gold Lifesaving Medal for his actions on March 26, 1938, after successfully rescuing Surfman Richard Bracken who fell overboard from the motor lifeboat Triumph at the mouth of the Columbia River.
