An RQ-7B "Shadow," operated by Marine Unmanned Aerial Squadron 1, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), returns from the first successful laser-guided ordinance drop from a fixed-wing aircraft here Sept. 22. The team assisted in landing a direct hit with a 500-pound bomb as they laser-guided it to the target after it was dropped from an F/A-18 "Hornet." After testing this new capability, the Marines of VMU-1 are confident in their ability to conduct similar operations in support of coalition forces on the ground.
