An RQ-7B "Shadow" rests on a launcher as Marines of Marine Unmanned Aerial Squadron 1, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), continue to discover new ways to utilize their aircraft. The team successfully laser-guided ordinance from a fixed-wing aircraft to a test target for the first time here Sept. 22. The Marines assisted in landing a direct hit with a 500-pound bomb as they laser-guided it to the target after it was dropped from an F/A-18 "Hornet." After testing this new capability, the Marines of VMU-1 are confident in their ability to conduct similar operations in support of coalition forces on the the ground.
