Cpl. Estanislao Alvarez, a crew chief with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), explains what happened the day he was hit with shrapnel while delivering supplies to ground troops. The Commandant of the Marine Corps General James T. Conway presented Alvarez with the Purple Heart in a ceremony in the HMLA-369 hangar on the flight line here Aug. 20.
