170322-N-FC674-350 7TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (March 22, 2017) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108), the Republic of Korea Navy destroyer Gwanggaeto the Great (DDH 971), and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher (57) transit waters east of the Korean Peninsula during a photo exercise including the United States Navy and the Republic of Korea Navy during Exercise Foal Eagle. The Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group is on a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of U.S. 3rd Fleet.
