A bulldozer opens up the “duck pond” as the first section of the 331st Transportation Company’s Trident Pier gradually moves into position along Dogu Beach near the South Korean port city of Pohang, April 7, 2017, in preparation of Operation Pacific Reach Exercise 2017. The pier is just one of the many elements of the combined Republic of Korea – U.S. training exercise that can be employed worldwide during humanitarian assistance and disaster Relief operations, contingencies or crisis response. Also known as OPRex17, the exercise is a bilateral training event designed to ensure readiness and sustain the capabilities which strengthen the ROK-U.S. alliance.
