170405-N-ME988-052 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 5, 2017) Marines assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit wait in an amphibious assault vehicle in the well deck onboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) before departing for exercise Alligator Dagger 17 in the vicinity of Djibouti. The U.S. 5th Fleet-led exercise provides an opportunity to enhance multilateral capabilities in critical mission sets inherent to the U.S. Navy-Marine Corps, as well as partners and allies in the region.
