Senior leaders from 24 countries throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region visit the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) during the Pacific Amphibious Leaders Symposium 2017 held in South Korea, April 3, 2017. The Joint Security Area is the only portion of the Korean DMZ where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. The JSA is used for diplomatic purposes and is occupied by both North and South Korea. The purpose of PALS is to bring together senior leaders of allied and partner militaries with an interest in amphibious operations and capability development.
