(April 18, 2017) Debbie Smith, Founder & CEO of H-E-A-R-T (Hope Exists After Rape Trauma), recalls the night she was sexually assaulted to explain what the mind and body go through, as part of the Navy's Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. As a rape survivor, Smith created H-E-A-R-T to aid victims of sexual assault and speak to other organizations and groups to help fight sexual assault. The Department of Defense observes Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month annually in April, with this years theme being "Protecting Our People Protects Our Mission.
