(April 18, 2017) Rob Smith, President of Hope Exists After Rape Trauma (HEART), hugs his wife, Debbie Smith, as she leaves the stage after recalling her sexual assault experience during a Navy's Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month discussion. As a rape survivor, Debbie Smith created HEART to aid victims of sexual assault and speak to other organizations and groups to help fight sexual assault. The Department of Defense observes Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month annually in April, with this years theme being "Protecting Our People Protects Our Mission.
