Naval Support Activity Washington Security Force teamed up with Metropolitan Police Department to conduct an active shooter drill at the Washington Navy Yard. The active shooter exercise, referred to as “RELIANT SHIELD 17-1,” was completed to meet a United States Fleet Forces Command requirement that all U.S. Navy personnel participate in an active shooter practical exercise annually. It provided an opportunity for NSAW to perform tactical level drill while at the same time incorporating essential coordination with all the tenant commands on the Washington Navy Yard.
