Marines with Bridge Platoon, Company A, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) measure the distance from each bank while conducting an engineer reconnaissance mission in the Garmsir District, central Helmand province, Afghanistan, Oct. 29. The purpose of the recon mission was to gather information that will benefit the platoon when they conduct future bridge builds.
