U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, 57th Wing commander, awaits rescue forces during a search and rescue scenario at exercise Angel Thunder 17 in Gila Bend, Air Force Base, Ariz., May 13, 2017. Gen. Leavitt, an F-15 Strike Eagle pilot, participated in the isolated personnel scenario of the exercise. Angel Thunder is a two-week, Air Combat Command-sponsored, joint certified and accredited personnel recovery exercise focused on search and rescue. The exercise is designed to provide training for personnel recovery assets using a variety of scenarios to simulate deployment conditions and contingencies.
