Cpl. Christopher Parker, a combat cargo Marine assigned to USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), executes a counter to a front headlock technique while being evaluated to earn a gray belt, the second level belt of five belts under the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program aboard the amphibious transport dock ship May 17, 2017. LPD 19 and the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit are underway with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
