Karl Marlantes, a Marine Corps veteran, talks to U.S. Naval War College students, staff and faculty about Marlantes’ experiences and observations about the Vietnam War. Marlantes spoke about how we might better prepare our service members for the psychological and spiritual aspects of war. He also addressed the horrors of war and his time in Vietnam where he experienced intense combat as well as his life after the war and overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder and how it impacted his life. The presentation was the final part of a three-part ethics lecture series where NWC students were able to discuss professional military ethics and the profession of arms with their peers.
