Martin Cook (left), U.S. Naval War College’s (NWC) James Bond Stockdale Chair of Professional Military Ethics talks with Karl Marlantes (right), a Marine Corps veteran about Marlantes’ experiences and observations about the Vietnam War to NWC students, staff and faculty. Marlantes spoke about how we might better prepare our service members for the psychological and spiritual aspects of war. He also addressed the horrors of war and his time in Vietnam where he experienced intense combat as well as his life after the war and overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder and how it impacted his life. The presentation was the final part of a three-part ethics lecture series where NWC students were able to discuss professional military ethics and the profession of arms with their peers.
