(Left) Robert Cockrell, heavy equipment mechanic repairs inspector, and Tim Craig, supervisor, Quality Control Department at Production Plant Barstow, check the work on a 16 cylinder Paxman engine used by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard in their cutters and coastal patrol ships, May 16. Cockrell said he checks the quality of work on equipment at the Marine Depot Maintenance Command facility with this in mind; “Would I want one of my children to drive this vehicle into battle?” Craig said the inspectors with the QC Department are the first ones to see vehicles when they come in for repair and the last one to check the work before equipment is sent back to the warfighter.
