170603-N-ZQ712-0017 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 3, 2017) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Leonido Alegre, a San Diego native, reaches for a lifeline during a firefighting training exercise in the hangar bay aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). America is currently underway conducting Certification Exercise (CERTEX) as part of the third and final phase of qualifications for their upcoming deployment. The America Amphibious Ready Group is comprised of more than 1,800 Sailors and 2,600 Marines assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), and America.
