Staff Sgt. Mark Heyliger, now a first sergeant with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, is pinned with his grandfather’s jump wings by his wife, Wendi, during airborne school graduation July 2002 at Fort Benning, Ga. The paratrooper’s grandfather was 1st Lt. Frederick “Moose” Heyliger, an officer with the 101st Airborne Division during World War II, made famous by the HBO miniseries, Band of Brothers.
