170615-N-DL434-077 PHILIPPINE SEA (June 15, 2017) Marines, assigned to the Amphibious Recon Platoon (ARP), embark a CH-53E Super Stallion, assigned to the “Dragons” of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 265 Reinforced, as it takes off from the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during a helo cast exercise. A helo cast exercise assesses the ability of the ARP to cast and retrieve a reconnaissance and surveillance team during small boat operations. Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG), is operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance partnerships and be a ready-response for any type of contingency.
