KING GEORGE, Va. (June 28, 2017) - Cesar Smith, a Navy systems engineer, explains a logistics challenge to middle school students at the 2017 Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division sponsored Navy STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Summer Academy. "They had to come up with a plan on how to rescue the gummy worm using only the tools and materials provided to them," said Smith. "It gets the students thinking about their strategy for completing the mission, step by step - and putting their plan on paper - before attempting a trial and error approach."
