Gen. James D. Thurman, U.S. Army Forces Command commanding general, speaks with soldiers of 2nd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), also known as Task Force Saber, Jan. 12, on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Thurman continuously asked soldiers if there was anything he could do for them and took time to listen to their concerns. The purpose of his trip was to see various units and discuss matters related to pre-deployment training.
