Gen. James D. Thurman, U.S. Army Forces Command, commanding general, approaches a hangar full of soldiers and an AH-64 Apache helicopter Jan. 12 on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Thurman continuously asked soldiers if there was anything he could do for them and took time to listen to their concerns. The purpose of his trip was to see various units and discuss matters related to pre-deployment training.
