Director Joseph Martin, Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance, provides opening remarks during the Health Emergencies in Large Populations (H.E.L.P.) course at the Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu, July 10. The H.E.L.P. course is a two-week, graduate-level training course providing participants with a multi-disciplinary understanding of the major public health issues faced by populations affected by natural disasters and complex emergencies. The course is conducted by the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance and held in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and partnership with the University of Hawaii’s Office of Public Health Studies.
