Sgt. Maj. Phillip Fascetti, 1st Marine Division (Forward) sergeant major and Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Carrizales, 1st MarDiv(Fwd) Headquarters Battalion, company gunnery sergeant, coordinate the rehearsal for the 70th anniversary ceremony of the 1st Marine Division, Jan. 30. The ceremony is scheduled to be celebrated here at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, Feb. 1. The 1st Marine Division was activated Feb. 1, 1941, aboard the battleship Texas. The division first saw action at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and is the oldest and most decorated unit in the Marine Corps.
