PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 3, 2017) An E-2C Hawkeye early warning and attack aircraft assigned to the "Sunkings" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 116 launches from the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The ship is underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with its carrier strike group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests a carrier strike group’s mission-readiness and ability to perform as an integrated unit through simulated real-world scenarios.
