Recruits from Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, attach bayonets to their rifles during the Bayonet Assault Course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 8. This was the first time recruits maneuvered through the course with actual bayonets. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate Sept. 1.
