SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 15, 2017) Retired Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Don Mason, a Navy Cross recipient, and past national commander and present San Antonio chapter commander of the Legion of Valor, explains the significance of The Medal of Honor and The Legion of Valor during a graveside memorial service in San Antonio honoring Kilmer, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor June 18, 1953. Mason presented a Legion of Valor membership certificate to Ray Brown, Kilmer’s cousin, who accepted the certificate on behalf of the family.
