An F-16 Fighting Falcon with the 555th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron--the Triple Nickel--takes off from Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Aug. 22, 2017. The F-16 is a vital part of the air campaign in Afghanistan, providing rapid, precision airpower to support coalition forces on the ground. It is equipped with a cannon and can also be loaded with laser-guided rockets and bombs, as well as GPS-guided munitions, making it adaptable to a wide variety of situations. During their current deployment, the "world famous, highly regarded" Triple Nickel has employed more than 600 munitions.
