A Palm Beach, Fla. native, Sgt. James Howie, a parachute rigger with the 647th Quartermaster Company, oversees the packing of a G12 parachute on Fort Bragg, N.C., Feb. 22. More than 1,500 parachutes were used recently in a Joint Operation Access Exercise recently, in which Paratroopers with the 82nd Airborne Division rained down from the skies to seize an imaginary country on Sicily Drop Zone. “I like to get my hands dirty and make sure Paratroopers get where they need it,” Spc. Steven Long, a parachute rigger with the 647th Quartermaster Co. and Hickory, N.C., native said.
