PACIFIC OCEAN - Sailors assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 and Coastal Riverine Group 1, Detachment Guam, practice harbor-clearing techniques using unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) deployed from a Mark VI patrol boat in the Pacific Ocean. Department of Defense experts - including experts on UUV technologies – collaborated with their counterparts in industry and academia at the fourth annual Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division Unmanned Systems Integration Workshop and Technical Exchange Meeting, Aug. 22-23, 2017. Highly technical discussions among 135 unmanned systems experts focused on integrating unmanned systems with platforms such as aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles in addition to other systems such as payloads, weapons, and sensors.
