U.S. Army Reserve Col. Bradley Nindl assumed command of the Southeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group from Col. Scott Lynn, the outgoing commander, during a Change of Command Ceremony presided over by Army Reserve Medical Command commanding general, Maj. Gen. Mary Link, held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change of individual authority. It also represents the transfer of power from one leader to another; passing the ceremonial flag from outgoing to incoming commander is a physical representation of that transfer. In this image, Col. Nindl returns the colors to the SE-MARSG command sergeant major, Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Christopher Luchsinger, the custodian of the colors and principal advisor to the commander.
