170830-N-WH681-041 NORFOLK, Va. (Aug. 30, 2017) A Landing Craft Air Cushion, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 4, exits the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). Kearsarge is onloading personnel, equipment and supplies in preparation to assist with disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey formed in the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall in southeastern Texas, bringing record flooding and destruction to the area.
