NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY DEVESELU, Romania (Sept. 11, 2017) Fire Controlman (Aegis) 1st Class, a chief selectee assigned to Naval Support Facility (NSF) Deveselu, raises the national ensign to half-mast during morning colors in remembrance of the events that occurred and the lives lost September 11th, 2001. NSF Deveselu and Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System Romania are co-located with the Romanian 99th Military Base and play a key role in ballistic missile defense in Eastern Europe. The installation’s operations enable the responsiveness of U.S. and allied forces in support of Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia’s (EURAFSWA) mission to provide services to the Fleet, Fighter and Family.
