POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, HAWAII -- Lance Cpl. Shane Daly, a machine gunner with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, provides suppression during a platoon live-fire event at Pohakuloa Training Area, August 23, 2017. The training event, a part of Exercise Bougainville II, consisted of a platoon-size force being transported by AAV’s to a staging area, then assaulting an enemy position with support from 60mm mortars and Daly’s machine gun emplacement. Exercise Bougainville II prepares 3/3 for service as a forward deployed force in the Pacific by training them to fight as a ground combat element in a Marine Air-Ground Task Force.
