ATLANTIC OCEAN- (Sept. 9, 2017) Damage Controlman 3rd Class Michael Goodale, from Shorewood, Ill., releases pressure from a charged hose during a hydrostatic test inside the hangar bay aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Abraham Lincoln is underway to be in position to provide humanitarian relief for those affected by Hurricane Irma in support of federal, state, and local authorities if requested. The DoD is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
