U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 13, 2017) - Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Nicholas Houlihan, a native of La Crosse, Wisconsin, assigned to the air department aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), guides an MV-22 Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 161 (Reinforced) for landing. America is the flagship for the America Amphibious Ready Group and, with the embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
