John Nichols as the adjutant general during a change-of-command ceremony at Camp Mabry, Texas, Saturday, March 12. As TAG, Nichols is now the senior military commander responsible for leading more than 24,000 members of the Texas Military Forces, which includes the Texas Army National Guard, Texas Air National Guard, and Texas State Guard. Change-of-command ceremonies illustrate the orderly transition of authority, which is a key component of readiness.
