Marines with 7th Communications Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF load a KC-130J Super Hercules cargo aircraft here March 14, during humanitarian assistance operations in response to the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck Japan March 11. The aircraft is being loaded with chairs, tables, desks and generators. The supplies will be delivered to Naval Air Station Atsugi in support of Operation Tomodachi. MCAS Futenma’s proximity to logistics and ground units has allowed Marines from III MEF to rapidly deploy critically-needed supplies and aid to support the relief effort.
