Petty Officer 3rd Class Lance Carter, aviation boatswain’s mate (handling), uses compressed air to blow water from padeyes on the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge. Padeyes are used in conjunction with chains to secure equipment, supplies and aircraft to the flight deck. Kearsarge is the command ship of Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
