Capt. Willis Brown, 455th Air Expeditionary Wing staff agency alternate unit safety representative, scans the flightline at the Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan for bird hazards, Sept. 16, 2017.
The 455th AEW Safety Office patrols the flightline multiple times each day to control and mitigate wildlife hazards. Animals on the flightline pose significant risk to airfield operations and the lives of those who conduct them. The Safety Office works with the U.S Department of Agriculture to remove hazards from the area and study the effectiveness of such efforts.
