American Red Cross volunteers Carmen Rodriguez, Tom Lemere and Geno Rosario deliver food and water to local residents and document damages outside a church in the town of Utuado, Puerto Rico, Oct. 5, 2017. Rodriguez is a native of Caguas, Puerto Rico; Rosario is a firefighter from Paducah, Ky.; and Lemere is a U.S. Air Force Reserve senior master sergeant serving with the 541th Air Mobility Wing based at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. The trio traveled as part of a team of local, stateside and international volunteers from the Red Cross to visit the town of Utuado to deliver tarps, food and water, conduct damage assessments and document the needs of the local residents. The Department of Defense, Federal Emergency Management Agency and other organizations have joined efforts to assist civil authorities in Puerto Rico to provide disaster relief after Hurricane Maria.
