The 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit try on the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus during a training evolution on the flight deck aboard the amphibious transport dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island. The SCBA provides service members with breathable oxygen in case of a shipboard fire. The ship is deployed as part of the USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group which deployed ahead of its original schedule in order to relieve units from the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group in the Mediterranean Sea.
